RAZIONALE SCIENTIFICO
This educational program is designed to enhance the knowledge and clinical competence of young doctors specializing in the field of inborn errors of metabolism. Given the complexity, rarity, and rapidly evolving nature of these disorders, the program provides a unique opportunity to deepen participants’ understanding of diagnostic pathways, patient management, and emerging therapeutic approaches. Led by two scientific coordinators and supported by a diverse, highly regarded faculty of experts, the program offers a dynamic environment where participants are encouraged to engage actively. Faculty members will be available throughout the meeting for in-depth discussion, clarification, and collaborative learning. Recognizing that inherited metabolic disorders require not only technical knowledge but also adaptability to novel scientific discoveries, this program is specifically structured to combine clinical relevance with academic rigor. Through the use of illustrative clinical cases, participants will explore a wide range of metabolic conditions, fostering dialogue, exchanging perspectives, and gaining practical insights into real-world challenges. In addition to case-based discussions, the curriculum includes lectures on key topics such as the role of nutritional interventions in IEM management, the need to implement early detection, accuracy, and follow-up care in newborn screening and to complete the program a thorough outlook to emerging therapies and future treatment directions. These sessions aim to offer a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of IEM care—from early diagnosis to long-term patient support. A distinguishing feature of this program is the dedicated time for open discussion, designed to encourage participants’ active involvement. This interactive format ensures that questions, uncertainties, and underexplored areas can be addressed collaboratively, helping young clinicians build confidence in managing complex cases. We hope this first edition will serve not only as a training platform but also as a catalyst for professional growth, multidisciplinary exchange, and lasting collaboration within the IEM clinical community. the IEM clinical community.
